FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

How do I pick the correct paper to use?

Paper selection is not easy to learn, and can sometimes make or break a well designed job. Some papers absorb more ink than others and can leave a job looking dull if you don't use the correct inks to have them "POP." As you can imagine, different quality inks have various costs. One printer can estimate a job with lower costs simply because he is using a lesser grade of paper and or inks.

Where can I find quality papers for the job I want to print?

You can find good quality paper samples from a good quality printer. Printers are familiar with various paper socks such as: Strathmore, Craines, Cougar, Finch, Classic, Crest, etc. Ask your printer for paper stock samples.

Why doesn't my printer keep the same price as he previously quoted?

All good printers expect to do extra services for a variety of items for the job to get done. If you get many lower prices for the same job with the same specifications make absolutely sure you are getting the EXACT same items you require for your print job.

Who is responsible for a proof?

Most printers will send you a messenger copy or a faxed copy with a stamp for you to sign giving YOUR approval. Once you sign the proof you are giving your acceptance for everything that is being printed for the job. Please be very careful when giving acceptance for your print job.

What is the average lead-time from start to finish for a print job?

The average lead-time for a job to be printed is generally one to two weeks depending on the size of the printing and the type of equipment the printer has. Mistakes can happen when you rush a job through the printer.

When is digital printing used?

Digital printing is generally used for fewer than 1000 prints, as it is less costly than four color process printing. The quality of printing is not quite as sharp but is acceptable in certain types of print jobs.
